Viola Viola (Reardanz) Domagalla Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Viola (Reardanz) Domagalla, who left this world after blessing us with 100 years of love, wisdom, and cherished memories. Born on August 21, 1924, to Cora and Fred Reardanz, Viola was the eighth of nine children. She lived a full and beautiful life, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Viola was married to the love of her life, Raymond Domagalla, for over 60 years until his passing in 2007. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and hard work. She spent her days on the farm, where she not only cultivated crops but also nurtured a family filled with warmth and kindness.

Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren will forever cherish the endless happy days spent on their grandparents' farm. Gigi, as they lovingly called her, was the heart of the home—always ready to play, talk, care for, and cook for those she loved. She had an unmatched talent in the kitchen, creating the most delicious meals from scratch, though she could never quite explain how she did it.

A skilled gardener, Viola had a magical touch with plants, growing the best tomatoes and tending her garden well into her 80s. After retiring from the post office in her 60s, she found joy in crafting, particularly ceramics. She spent many happy hours in ceramics class, creating beautiful masterpieces—pumpkins, nativity sets, tea sets, and treasured knick-knacks that her family will cherish forever. She also loved to crochet, ensuring that every new baby in the family was wrapped in handmade blankets, booties, and bonnets, each stitch woven with love.

Viola was a storyteller, a confidante, and a source of unwavering support. She could talk for hours, always ready to lend an ear or share a piece of advice. A skilled hairdresser in her earlier years, she had a knack for making everyone feel beautiful—inside and out.

She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Surviving are daughter, Shirley (Stanley) Stam of Bourbonnais, IL; three grandchildren, Stacey (David) Gaffeny, Steven (Jessica) Stam, and Sarah (Ray Sue) Cherry; seven great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Domagalla of Manhattan, IL.

Preceding her in death was her parents, husband, Raymond; son, Raymond Jr., and siblings, Earl, Myron, Willis, Fred, Ruby Walton, Adeline Hoffman, and Dorothy Mayer Reardanz.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Viola's life will be held at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, March 19, visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 with memorial service at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor her memory by planting a garden, cooking a homemade meal for a loved one, or sharing a story with someone who needs to hear it—just as Viola would have done.

Rest in peace, dear Gigi. Your love will forever guide us.
