Rudy L. Splear Obituary
Herscher, Illinois - Rudy L. Splear, age 60, of Herscher passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He was born March 22, 1965 in Kankakee, the son of Rudy W. & Sue (Schlaich) Splear. Rudy married Julie A. Kelch on February 16, 1985 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Clifton.
Rudy worked as a road commissioner for Milks Grove Township. He had also farmed, and had been a driver for Welsch Redi Mix. Rudy was a graduate of Herscher High School. On a daily basis, he checked the township roads, and enjoyed observing the deer in the area.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Julie A. Splear of Herscher; two daughters, Megan Splear of Marseilles and Ashley Splear of Herscher; his mother and step-father, Sue Gross-House & Paul House of Rogersville, MO; one sister and brother-in-law, Jeannine & Mark Simpkins of Kankakee; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Dale & Sarah Gross of Fordland, MO and Jack & Kim Gross of Southaven, MS; and numerous nieces and nephew. Rudy is preceded in death by his father, Rudy W. Splear; one son, Rudy; and his stepfather, Jack Gross.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Herscher.
