Roy W. Smith Sr. was born on September 9, 1948, in Chicago, IL to Earl and Billie Smith.
Roy was baptized Catholic and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
In 1967, Roy married the former Marsha Craycraft, and to this union, they were blessed with. children: Lisa (Anthony) Knight, Roy (Nicole) Smith Jr., and Carla Smith.
In 1991, Roy married Sharon Nocentelli, and to this union, they were blessed with 3 children: Antonio (Denise) Nocentelli, Aristeed (Sotona) Ashwood, and Gabrielle Smith. They remained married until Sharon's death in 2005.
Roy worked at Riverside Hospital for over 23 years. Roy also worked as a forklift operator for A.O. Smith and retired from K-Mart Distribution Center.
Roy enjoyed riding motorcycles and bicycles and training horses, specifically his beloved horse "Dollar". Roy was also a lover of music and enjoyed playing guitar and dancing. Roy was known as the life of any party, and you could frequently find him being the first one on the dance floor and the last one to leave!
On February 27th, 2025, as the legacy of Soul Line Dancing was being celebrated, Roy smoothly and fluidly danced his way into his new life, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of his own.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, his parents Earl and Billie, Brother Lawrence, and Brother Irving, along with a host of other family and friends.
Roy leaves to cherish his memory his children Lisa, Roy Jr, Carla, Antonio, Aristeed, and Gabrielle. 1 brother, Matthew Brandon, 1 sister, Donna Washum, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends who absolutely adored him!
Services will be on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Visitation at 10:00 AM with funeral services at 11:00 AM at Pembroke Fellowship Church, 13279 E. 5000 S. Rd, Pembroke Twp., IL. Graveside service to follow.
