Nancy Rabe, age 89 of Bourbonnais, IL passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Ascension Living Heritage Village of Kankakee, IL. She was born February 14, 1936 in Watseka, IL, the daughter of Cecil and Gurnie (Heath) Cushman. Nancy married Dennis D. Rabe on June 24, 1956 at Watseka Calvary Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Jun 29, 2024.
Nancy was a former employee of Kraft General Foods Coupon Center in Kankakee. She enjoyed gardening & yardwork, baking, family gatherings, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancy was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school there and volunteered numerous hours over the years at the food pantry, annual rummage sales, and coordinating funeral luncheons. She also volunteered at the Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth, IL.
Surviving is one son, Jeffrey Rabe of Kankakee; three daughters, Kimberly Manes of Bourbonnais, Rhonda (Steven) Smith of Noblesville, IN, and Terri (Greg) Walls of Kankakee; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her parents; one grandson, Dennis R. Rabe; one sister, Mary Van-Hoveln; and one brother, Don Cushman.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00pm at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, Kankakee. Additional visitation will be held Monday, April 7, 2025 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Kankakee from 10:00am to 11:00am. The funeral service will be held 11:00am at the church, with a luncheon to be served afterwards. Burial will follow at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Woodworth, IL at 3:00pm. Memorials in Nancy's name can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Kankakee.
