Mary Lou 'Marge' Hoogstraat Obituary
Kankakee, Illinois - Mary Lou "Marge" Hoogstraat, age 84, of Kankakee passed away Monday, April 28, 2025 at Heritage Village in Kankakee. She was born September 12, 1940 in St. George, the daughter of Eugene & Louise (Graveline) Monette. Marge married Laverne Hoogstraat on September 7, 1968 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cabery.
Marge was co-owner at Century Data Center. She was active in the Women of the Moose. Marge enjoyed board games, cards, sewing, gardening, and sitting on her front porch. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and baking with the grandchildren.
Marge was a parishioner of Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Bourbonnais.
Surviving are her husband, Laverne Hoogstraat of Bourbonnais; one son, Alan (Samantha) Hoogstraat of Bourbonnais; three daughters, Michele (Frank) Triveline of Kankakee, Sheri (Tim) Pettineo of Glen Ellyn, and Lana (Chad) Shepherd of Donovan; five grandchildren, Chanler Hoogstraat-Dilday, Ada Dilday, Laney Hoogstraat-Peters, Brenden Hoogstraat, and Brock Hoogstraat; one great-grandchild, Adalynn Dilday; and special niece, Geralyn Yockman. Marge is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alma Monette and Eileen Clabby; one brother, Robert Monette; and one nephew, Mark Monette.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Bourbonnais. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais.
