Kankakee, Illinois - Kiyantis Janel Riley, affectionately known as "Key," was born December 28, 1979, to Ernest Riley Jr. and Roslyn M. Riley (Stubblefield) in Kankakee, Illinois. He departed unexpectedly on Easter morning, April 20, 2025, in his hometown.
Baptized early at Zion Gate Missionary Baptist Church, Kiyantis was active in Youth Ministries. After graduating from Kankakee High School in 1999, he worked in retail, publications, and warehouse operations before dedicating himself to caring for his mother.
Known for his deep love for family, his bond with children, and his gift for making people feel seen and valued, Kiyantis was a loyal friend and a bright light to many. He loved movies, sports, and pop culture, bringing energy and excitement to every conversation.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his father and stepmother, Ernest Jr. (Anita) Riley; brothers Yamaze (Melissa) Riley, Darrell Riley, and Dontae (Corey) Simon; stepsister Titania Adams; five nephews; one niece; aunts Barbara (Walter) Williams and Theressa Stubblefield-Sabbs; uncles Hurley III (Mary) Stubblefield and Duane Stubblefield; his girlfriend, Triana Britton; bonus sister, Alexandra Villafuerte; best friend, John Taylor; and many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Roslyn M. Riley; paternal grandparents, Ernest Sr. and Elvena Riley; maternal grandparents, Hurley Jr. and Mary Stubblefield; and his uncle, Ronald L. Stubblefield.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Kankakee, IL. Rev. Carl Randle will officiate.
