Kerry Mark O'Connell, age 62, of Bourbonnais passed away Monday, February 24, 2025. He was born September 29, 1962 in Kankakee, the son of Weldon and Eva (Mitchell) O'Connell.
Kerry was retired from the United States Postal Service, where he worked for almost 30 years.
He also served as a member of the BBCHS School Board for many years. Kerry was a long-time coach, umpire, and referee in the community. He loved spending time with his sons,socializing with friends, especially at TJ's, reading, writing poems for his grandson, squirrel watching, and rooting for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Chicago Fire, and Manchester United. Kerry was the 30th ever member of the Chicago Fire supporters group originally known as the Barn Burners.
Surviving are two sons, Mark O'Connell (Morgan Metschuleit) of Bourbonnais, and Philip O'Connell of Duluth, Minnesota; one sister, Kathy Diangikes of Florida; one grandson, Ronan O'Connell; one niece, Molly Diangikes; one nephew, Ryan Neese; and one great-nephew, Teddy.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Ted Diangikes.
Kerry was the most loving father and papa, and the life of the party. His presence will be greatly missed throughout the community.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
