Bourbonnais, IL - Joyce Johnson, age 86, of Bourbonnais passed away Friday, June 27, 2025. She was born April 19, 1939 in Kankakee, the daughter of Frank & Frances (Glines) Salkeld.
Joyce was a graduate of St. Patrick Grade School and St. Patrick High School. She worked at Salkeld and Sons Sporting Goods in the Toys & Trophy Department. Joyce was a volunteer coach for St. Patrick's grade school and volunteered at Provena St. Mary's Hospital. She loved to attend all Bishop McNamara ball games.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Blake Pierson of SC, Schuyler Pierson of SC, and Cheyenne Pierson of AZ; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kathleen Meszaros; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Duane & Mary Salkeld and Bill & Faye Salkeld; one niece, Karen Salkeld; and one nephew, Mark Salkeld.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Bourbonnais.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the Mass. Inurnment will be held at a later date at All Saints Mausoleum in Bourbonnais.
In lieu of flowers, all Memorials may be made to Bishop McNamara Athletics.
