Preceded in death by his father John Buie Jr. and his maternal grandmother Jessie Collums. John grew up in Helena, Arkansas, which is in the Heart of the Delta right on the Mississippi River where his roots run deep. His great grandfather was a lamplighter for boats on the river and he passed his profound connection to this place onto his family, especially onto John. John relocated up north and worked at Braidwood Exxon Nuclear Plant where he formed many long lasting friendships. He was known as the "Jack of All Trades". Although John relocated up north, the pull back to the Mississippi never left him. Per John's wishes, he was cremated, and his remains will be returned to his home; on the river.
