Kankakee, Illinois - Jeffrey Jay Clark II, age 41, passed away on April 20, 2025, in Kankakee, IL. He was born on August 6, 1983, in Kankakee, IL, the place that he called home. Throughout most of his life Jay was a source of warmth and joy to those around him with his infectious smile and his generous spirit.
Jeffrey's early years were spent between Georgia and Illinois. He began his education in Georgia where he attended elementary school and later returned to Kankakee for Junior High School. He was determined to forge his own path and later completed the Lincoln Challenge Program in Rantoul, IL.
Affectionately known as "Jay" by his friends and family or "Jonathan" by his maternal grandparents, he was a beloved presence among family and friends. His personality radiated kindness. He was often described as "the sweetest person anyone could ever meet." He had a signature way of expressing his affection to his family, he regularly used warm hugs and sweet kisses on their cheeks accompanied by 'I love you!' just to name a few. He never missed an opportunity to share a laugh or crack a joke. This joyous demeanor made him especially cherished by his children. All of the kids adored Uncle Jay and he whole heartedly returned that love.
Jay found happiness in life with simple pleasures. He enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, cooking meals for those he cared for and spending quality time with his children.
He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life his beloved children; Jaylen, Jayla and Jayce Clark, his companion of many years Sparkle Strickland and children, his sisters and brothers; Monique Calhoun, Sarah Calloway, Kanay Clark, Nicole Brown, Enrico (Alvita) Calhoun, Edmund Calhoun and Dale Sykes, eight nephews, six nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
Waiting to welcome him into Eternity are his mother beloved Nina Whalum, his father Jeffrey Clark, his devoted maternal and paternal grandparents, Rev. Robert and Claudia Harwell, Rev. Ashby and Mother Annie Mae Clark Sanders and his uncle Roland Harwell.
A memorial celebration will take place on May 3, 2025, at the Caldwell Chapel AME Zion Church, 805 N Evergreen Ave, Kankakee, IL, beginning at 10 am and continuing until 12 noon. A repast for family and friends will be held afterwards at the Legacy Venu in Kankakee, IL.
