Momence, IL - Greg J. Gelino, 89, of Momence, IL, died on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at his home.
He was born on March 11, 1936 in Momence, IL, the son of John G. and Anita C. Nourie Gelino. He married Sandy Feddersen on June 4, 1966 in Momence, IL. She survives.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Gelino of Momence, IL; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Janice Gelino of Momence, IL, Arthur and Carole Gelino of Lansing, MI, and Francis and Rosemary Gelino of Ringoes, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad Signal Department, where he worked for 38 years as an electrician.
Greg served in the United States Army and was part of the 11th Aviation Battalion in Stuttgart, Germany.
He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence, IL.
He enjoyed watching and cheering on the Chicago Bears and White Sox. Greg loved to visit the Smokey Mountains, especially the trips for the military reunions with his comrades from Germany where he served.
Visitation will be held from5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the Cotter Funeral Home in Momence, IL. The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence, IL. The Rev. Peter Jankowski will officiate. Interment will be at the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Momence, IL.
Memorials may be made to the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence, IL and/or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
