Manteno, IL - Gloria M. Burke, 95, of Manteno, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025.

Gloria was born on November 20, 1929, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Maxine (Noel) LeBeau. She grew up and lived in Chicago before moving to Manteno. She graduated from Visitation HS in Chicago. Gloria met her husband, William J. Burke in Chicago at St Sabina Church at a Young People's Club, where they later married on September 13, 1952. William passed away May 30, 2002. Gloria was an X-Ray Tech when living in Chicago and then later at Riverside Hospital in Kankakee. Gloria was a librarian at the Manteno Library for 35 years. After retirement, she was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital for many years. Gloria's garden was her greatest passion, with all its beautiful flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed baking for her family along with canning and freezing her vegetables. She also cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Gloria enjoyed traveling, visiting countries such as Canada, Costa Rica, Italy, Ireland, and Austria along with many US cities including Kona, HI and Anchorage, AK.

Gloria is survived by her 2 sons, William (Kathy) Burke, Jr of Niles, IL, Noel (Tammy) Burke of Manteno, IL; 2 daughters, Paulette Butler (late Everett L Butler, Jr) of Bourbonnais, IL, Judy (Doug) Hescox of San Ramon, CA; sister-in-law, Kaye LeBeau of Davenport, IA, 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Burke; parents, Joseph and Maxine LeBeau; son, Larry Burke; 2 grandsons, James Hescox and Jack Butler; brother, Carter LeBeau.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Uplifted Care, Bourbonnais Grove and Loving Hands for all their kind services.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at St. George Catholic Church in Bourbonnais, starting at 10am until the funeral mass at 11am officiated by Father Patrick Render. Jensen Funeral Home in Kankakee is handling the arrangements.

Gloria will be buried at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. at a later time.

In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the Manteno Public Library and Uplifted Care.
