Betty J. (Penley) Johnson, 95, of Manteno, IL, formerly of Momence, IL, died on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Serenity Assisted Living in Manteno, IL.

She was born on June 30, 1929, in Momence, IL, the daughter of Earl and Florence Giasson Cote.

She married Ted Penley on June 2, 1945, in Crown Point, IN. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1992. She later married Paul Johnson on May 30, 2010, in Momence, IL. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2024.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Konopacke of Bradley, IL; her son and daughters-in-law, Craig and Judi Penley of Benton, KY and Judith Penley of GA; and her stepchildren, Paula and Joe Karlock of Momence, IL and Pete and Cathey Johnson of Smyrna, SC. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Cote and Richard Cote; her son, Gary Penley; and her son-in-law, Tom Konopacke.

She worked for 14 years at Carter Wallace and 20 years at Gilster Mary-Lee in Momence, IL.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Momence, IL.

Betty liked to color and raise house plants.

Visitation will be held from 10:00AM to 11:00AM, on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Momence, IL.

The funeral service: will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Momence, IL. Pastor Tim Filkins will officiate. Interment will be at the Momence Cemetery in Momence, IL.
