Glendale, Arizona - Anita Marie (Fritz) Marcotte, 97 years old, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Thursday morning, March 14th, 2025.
Anita was born to Paul and Susan Fritz on their farm, June 24, 1927, in Herscher, Ill. She graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Kankakee, Il June 1948 after completing her Diploma of Nursing. She married Marcel "Mike" Marcotte November 12, 1949. They settled in Bourbonnais, Ill to raise their children. She was there by Mike's side as he built the Opportunity Homes Belle Aire Subdivision in Bourbonnais.
Anita and Mike moved to Harlingen, Texas in September of 1983 and purchased the Villa Apartments. She worked as bookkeeper and manager while Mike did the maintenance. She was on the board of the Rio Grande Valley Apartment Association. After Mike's death in 1990 She sold the apartment complex. They belonged to the Queen of Peace Parish, Brownsville Diocese. In 1998 Anita co-coordinated the first Gabriel Project program for pregnant mothers in need, for the Brownsville Diocese. She continued that role until the summer of 2014 when she relocated to Glendale Arizona to be closer to family.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband Marcel Marcotte, parents Paul and Susan Fritz, siblings, Liela, Paul, Francis, Carol, Ralf and infant daughter, Suzanne and great granddaughter Ryleigh. Anita is survived by her brother Ronald and sister Marian, her children Eugene Marcotte of McKinney, TX, Gloria Brosseau of Dewey, AZ, Edward Marcotte of Lake Village, IN, Mary Marcotte of Georgetown, TX and Hope Queener of League City, TX and their spouses, Karen, Dennis, Teresa, Wally and Monty. Anita is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 18 greatgrandchildren.
The Funeral Mass will be held on June 21, 2025, at 10am at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, in Herscher, IL. A recitation of the Rosary will precede the Mass at 09:30 in the church. Final interment will be at the Saints Peter and Paul cemetery in Herscher, IL following the mass.
